Flamenco and Dinner
Enjoy a seafood paella dinner and drinks at a leading Andalusian restaurant before an exciting performance of Spanish dance. Flamenco is an artform that originated in Andalucia and comprises three elements: the song (el cante), the dance (el baile) and the guitar (el toque). Among the gypsies of Andalucía it was used as an expression of poverty, oppression and personal grief. Over time, Flamenco has also become a means of expressing happiness as it incorporated elements of Spanish music in lighter forms (alegrias, bulerias, fandangos). Contemporary Spaniards have re-established an interest in Flamenco as a commercial form of music and, although some regard this as having stifled the intimacy and spontaneity of Flamenco, it has undoubtedly opened up the art to a wider audience. "Fusion Flamenco" has resulted from the influence of Madrid over the otherwise uniquely Andalusian genre. You will watch in fascination as the elements of this exotic, provocative, flamboyant dance are performed for you and you will see classical Flamenco booming once again.

TOUR OF BARCELONA
Barcelona's historical and cultural traditions, its monuments and mild climate make it one of the liveliest and most attractive cities in Spain. The tour first climbs Montjuic Hill, featuring lush gardens and beautiful views of the city. Crossing the town centre and driving along the main roads, you will head for the northern part of the city. There, in addition to the Avenida de la Diagonal, is the impressive cathedral of the Sagrada Familia (outside visit only), a monumental church in the neo-Gothic style begun in 1882 according to Antonio Gaudi's plans and still under construction today. You will then continue to the Barrio Gotico (Gothic Quarter) which boasts the Cathedral, a masterpiece of Catalan Gothic architecture. To conclude, we'll visit Parque Güell, designed by Gaudi. This is not only a park but was to be a housing complex with which the Catalonian architect intended to inspire a new style of town planning.
GAUDI'S MASTERPIECES
This trip will take you to the highly original Guell Park. Gaudì initially envisaged this area as a large English-style park, but successively its creation was largely entrusted to one of his disciples, Josep Maria Pujol. Its undulating benches covered in ceramic fragments of many shapes and colours are fascinating objects, whose numerous details and shades will certainly catch your eye. You will have time to stroll along the paths of this marvellous park, before boarding your coach for the short trip to "Eixample" district, where the famous "Sagrada Familia" cathedral is situated. A local guide will give you a detailed commentary of the details of the façade. Finally, you will have some free time, as many of you will certainly be tempted to do some shopping. Your next stop will be Casa Mila, better known as "La Pedrera" (The Stone Quarry), which certainly represents Gaudì's most mature work. No other building could better represent Modernism. This was the last residential building to be designed. by Gaudì and was built between 1906 and 1912. It is characterised by a myriad of revolutionary details, which testify to the artist's creativity and extraordinary technical mastery. The next masterpiece on your itinerary is Casa Batllo, a residential building that exudes dreamlike atmosphere. You will be able to admire its façade, which is completely covered in a multicoloured mosaic of shiny scales. The same technique has been used for the roof. The suggestive façade recalls the legend of Saint George and his fight with the dragon: according to this reading, the cross can be interpreted as the tail of the dragon and the row of balconies as the bones of its victims. On your way back to the ship you will cross the commercial heart of the old city and of Barcelona itself - the famous Placa de Catalunya - and the harbour area.
BARCELONA AND THE PICASSO MUSEUM

Flamenco Show
Flamenco is not just a dance style but an art form with a history often debated. It is known that in the 18th century Gypsies used Flamenco as an expression of oppression, sometimes even without music. Some theories state the melodies are from Northern African Arabic roots while others say there are Indian influences. One certainty is that Flamenco was developed in a type of underground environment, and in the early 1900s, became popular throughout Spain. However, it was not until 1956 that the first formal competition and festival of song in Cordoba took place, and in 1957, the Chair of Flamencology was created at the University of Jerez.
This is an opportunity to experience this beautiful display of colorful costumes, intriguing music, and a unique dance style. The heel stamping (Taconeo), the hand clapping (Palmas Sordas) and the finger snapping (Pitos) are what most people associate with the sounds of Flamenco. The unique Flamenco guitar is the most common accompanying instrument, and some of the guitarists play so vividly that they do not even have to sing, as their guitar speaks for them.
You will have a 45-minute panoramic drive to Patio Andaluz, where your 2-hour show will be performed. One drink is included, and usually at the end of the show, the guests are invited to join the dancers on the floor for a final performance.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 200 yards over even surfaces with some steps. Casual evening attire (no tank tops, shorts or revealing clothing) is acceptable. You may need to make alternative dining plans onboard as the duration and departure time may extend into regular dining hours.
