A NIGHT AT THE SYDNEY OPERA
What a delightful way to spend an evening in Sydney! After an early dinner onboard the ship, proceed by limousine to the Sydney Opera House, whose sail-shaped roofline has made it one of the most talked-about buildings in the world. Anticipation mounts as, with program in hand, you make your way to the theater and join the audience at this famous performing arts center. At the time of publication, the performance is expected to be The Merry Widow.
AUSSIE WILDLIFE
Enjoy this introduction to some of Australia's unique wildlife. By motorcoach, cross Sydney's famous Harbor Bridge and traverse leafy suburbs en route to the Koala Park bird and animal sanctuary. On arrival, meet your personable guide who introduces you to a dingo and a wombat. Get close to a koala for a perfect photo opportunity. Ample time is afforded to explore the sanctuary and meet the other Aussie native fauna - try hand-feeding the kangaroos or staring down an emu. Sample some traditional Billy Tea served with damper bread before reboarding the coach. Proceed to the ferry pier for a Rivercat boat cruise along the Parramatta River on the way back to Sydney. Although this vessel is public transportation without commentary, you are sure to enjoy viewing the beautiful riverside homes and Sydney Harbor. Debark the Rivercat at Circular Quay, where a coach awaits to take you on the brief drive back to the ship. Or if you prefer, you may leisurely stroll the short distance back.
BLUE MOUNTAINS FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ADVENTURE
Leaving Sydney via Sydney Harbour Bridge, your first stop is the Featherdale Wildlife Park to meet some of Australia's native wildlife. After passing through fertile farmland known as the "fruit bowl" area, the historic early settlement town of Richmond and crossing the Hawkesbury River, wander along the Bells Line of Road. This is the land of the mountain apple and the northwestern passage over the mountains. Breathe in the invigorating scent of the Australian eucalyptus as you travel along the original convict-built road that winds its way up to an old volcano to the picturesque historic village of Mt. Wilson. One of the highlights of your tour, Mount Wilson is famous for it crisp, clean air, stately homes and prize-winning gardens, and access to this area is restricted. Stroll through the Cathedral of Ferns, a true rainforest and the closest you can come to a Jurassic Park of prehistoric plants. Enjoy the forest canopy with its kookaburras and the unique songs of the many other wild native birds. At the Historic Post House set high on the mountain, enjoy a BBQ lunch served outside under the shade of the native bush. After lunch, soak up magnificent views of the Kanibla Valley, or fighting ground, and enjoy demonstrations of ochre painting and didgeridu playing. Then it's on to Echo Point and the stunning vista of the Blue Mountains. Embrace the breathtaking Jamieson Valley and the famous Three Sisters rock formations - hear why this is called Echo point and see why they are called the Blue Mountains. Before commencing the return to the ship, enjoy a delightful stop for afternoon tea and learn to throw a Boomerang. This safe and comfortable off road adventure affords an authentic taste of the Australian bush - just a few hours from Sydney.
GREAT AUSSIE YACHT RACE
Australia is world renowned for the acumen of its sailors, and is one of only two countries ever to take the much-prized America's Cup from the United States. Experience the thrill of competitive sailboat racing on Sydney Harbor, described by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful harbors in the world. No previous experience is required as each sailboat has a fully experienced captain. However, should you wish to get involved in the work of sailing, the skipper will gladly provide tips on how to WIN! Proceed directly from the ship by air-conditioned motorcoach to the marina at Rushcutter's Bay. Tour guests are divided between sailing vessels, which are then pitted against each other for two hours on the water. At the conclusion of the race, enjoy a glass of champagne as the winning team is congratulated.
HARBOR BRIDGE CLIMB & ROCKS PUBS
Experience a combination of exhilarating walks to dizzying heights with spectacular views, and historical strolls through the city's oldest area, topped off with a friendly and casual drink in true Downunder tradition. Begin with a short transfer to the world famous Sydney Harbour Bridge for an early morning climb of this landmark built in 1932. Feel the thrill of making your way over the catwalk to the pylon and then setting out across the arch on your way to the summit. From this vantage point take in the 360 degree vista over the spectacular harbor. Outfitted with a BridgeSuit, which you are required to wear over your clothing, travel in small escorted groups the entire way. There is also a safety briefing and guests are required to complete a declaration form to meet the BridgeClimb's strict safety regulations and conditions. Also, for safety reasons, guests are not permitted to carry items including cameras; a secure locker is available for storage of your small valuables, but it is suggested to leave behind loose articles. Don't be concerned though as a photograph of your climb group at the summit is included. Each climber also receives a commemorative climber certificate. After your climb, take a short walk around The Rocks to gain some insight into some of the notable buildings, historical moments and the notorious personalities from the convict era that make this area famous. In contrast to the modern glass skyscrapers of the city, the Rocks displays classic terrace houses and sandstone cottages. The Rocks is also famous for its numerous pubs and as a special inclusion for your group, a stop is made at one of its historical and popular drinking establishments for a glass of Aussie brew and an opportunity to chat with some of the locals. You are then free for some independent exploring before making the short walk back to the ship on your own. Cheers!
